http://www.offtackleempire.com/2014/9/2 ... own-week-5At long last, the cupcakes and non-con slugs are behind us. The B1G looks inward now, and begins eating its own young. This is a good thing for the Empire. It's what we desire. Cold weather, colder beer, warm fires, and breaking things in our living rooms. What did we learn this week? I think it's safe to say we learned that Michigan will have a new coach next year. We also learned the fickleness of the PSU fan base. Numerous commenters speculated that James Franklin might be another Hoke, i.e. a "rah rah" recruiter who can't coach in a big game. I'd say it's a bit premature for such alarmist views.

What a crazy week for the top 10. #2 Oregon, #3 'Bama, #4 Oklahoma, and #6 aTm all lose, and #10 Michigan St. has a tough one against Nebraska tonight.
How crazy is it going to be when the Egg Bowl has playoff implications?

Is this the best day in the history of Mississippi? I think this is the best day in history for the state of Mississippi. I'm sure there were more meaningful days in their history, like the founding of it and what not, but I imagine the state of MS is rather happy in general tonight.JL21 wrote:What a crazy week for the top 10. #2 Oregon, #3 'Bama, #4 Oklahoma, and #6 aTm all lose, and #10 Michigan St. has a tough one against Nebraska tonight.

Connor Halliday of Wazzu just set an FBS record with 734 yards passing in a single game. Too bad it's in a losing effort.

Jason Kirk of SBN wrote:When Sunday's poll rankings roll in, Ole Miss is almost certain to match or exceed its highest ranking since 1965, when it opened the season No. 1 before crashing to a 5-5-1 finish. Mississippi State will match or exceed its highest ranking ever, from a week spent at No. 7 in October 1981.
http://www.sbnation.com/college-footbal ... lts-week-6Hugh Freeze's Rebels hosted "College GameDay" for the first time in school history Saturday, making good on the all-time-high atmosphere with a takedown of the No. 3 Tide. Odds are good Dan Mullen's Bulldogs, who just slugged Texas A&M in the face for three hours, will get to do the same next weekend, when they host an Auburn team that might rank No. 2 in the country. In the show's 21-year existence, the national spotlight never focused once on Mississippi, and now it might have to do so for two weeks in a row.

I'm not surprised the NY Times investigated Florida State but am by Fox Sports.
