BTW, I missed this sentence the first time around when I was drinking High Life and Jameson at the bar last night. If what you said could possibly hurt my feelings then I would have quit working in restaurants years ago. I made the obvious joke right back, which is that you drink grandmother whiskey in the most boring way possible. Next time you're in town, have a seat at my bar and try and walk out after I make you a couple of frou-frou weird cocktails on the house.
I'm pretty sure Michael is currently speeding towards your bar.

You don't need to give me free stuff, I'll stop by and gladly try something. I should have thought to ask where you were when my wife and I were in town this summer. Next time I will.

No prob. I'll just have to change up my m.o. to keep the fuzz guessing.

No doubt. The mean drunk.

It would be awesome if every town kept an emergency stash of booze for the citizenry

I was just goofing around, too, when I made the haha etc. post at your ludicrous idea that the best guy who wears the laundry you like is better than the best guy we've seen since Pedro.

It's kinda weird on this board that your goofing around--posting [expletive] dismissive comments about people while acknowledging you didn't read their post, saying in matters of taste that your way is the only way (here and in the beer thread and on the topic of Chicago and almost everything else), telling people to [expletive] off--is, haha, just jim being jim, god bless him, while my version of goofing off is seen as me being a dick and a cancer to the board and leads to a public threat of banning, which I don't recall ever seeing before.

I'd challenge someone to explain to me why the haha post is more dismissive and more offensive than the post from which the quote above is pulled.

I didn't lecture you on the topic, I gave you a hard time about just providing noise to the discussion. Now, in the topic of "Bourbon" your input remains: [expletive] this person, they don't know what they're talking about, etc. Is your day job that miserable?

Sounds like you haven't been paying very close attention to my posts, which you admit to not reading, w/r/t baseball, which I don't really have anything to prove on here smarts-wise. I've already done that in spades. I might rub you the wrong way, and that's fair, but you can't knock my smarts if you want anyone who reads this board objectively to take you seriously.

As far as the other two, I don't really need to give you a big long self-indulgent thing that you probably won't read about my qualifications to talk about beer and spirits, because it should be evident in my posts on both that I know what I'm talking about. But I'll tell you this, jim: in this city, which is one that matters second only to NY for dining and second to no one when it comes to spirits and beer, my opinion holds a lot of [expletive] water. A lot of people helped me and gave me advice when I started doing this crazy thing a few years ago, and when I need help or have a question I go ask and listen to people who know more about something than I do (something you might consider), but more often now there are people who come looking for me. And there are people, regular old folks, who sit at my bar 2-3 times a month, and say "make me something with...." because they know, jim, they [expletive] know. And that matters a lot more to me than you telling me to [expletive] off on an anonymous internet message board.
