letsgocards: My advice is 1) open bottle 2) pour into a glass 3) sip. I like to keep things simple. Apparently this is not correct though.
He knows a hell of a lot about spirits and cocktails; not sure why anyone would his panties in a bunch over Thirds comments in this thread.
To be honest I didn't read it. I just saw alot of words.

Using the word stupidity to describe not being concerned about expert advice in matters of taste is rather extreme.

Of course it is, but so is being a dick toward a guy who is telling another guy that he should enjoy the bourbon whichever way he decides he likes it.

Your comment would have more validity if 33 were the one telling people that they were drinking it all wrong.

People just goofing around. If this were gateway whiskey drinkers then people would have probably taken the thread more seriously. You don't see this silliness in the baseball discussions generally. I post a goofy picture poking fun at someone with some heart shaped ice shapes, and then the next post is a dissertation on pick axes and ice harvesting. Of course people are going to comment on that. And then I make an obvious joke to haltz - at least I think it was - a person I've been talking to for almost 10 years, and then I get a lecture. Every single thing I said in this thread was tounge in cheek. Why would I honestly care how drink something?

To the guy(s) that lectured me: [expletive] you. Seriously, [expletive] you.

If haltz had a problem with anything I said I'm sorry to him. I know the guy knows food and drink and baseball, three things more than someone else in this thread knows about and two things more than I know. trill too, and jl21. I have learned from this thread.

But seriously, [expletive] you.

And [expletive] I can't type and I have to keep fixing this stupid [expletive] post.

Let's talk about scotch. I can't do it. Too funky.

I'm not offended at all. I like talking about wine and liquor. It's the only thing in the world I'm certified in. Other than that I like talking about baseball. I couldn't care less if someone else doesn't care, but apparently it bothers people when I do. I'm dealing with something similar professionally. I work somewhere with an established clientele that doesn't want to be told [expletive] and we've started a really aggressive cocktail program over the last couple of years. Some people want to hear about it and some people don't. When it's somehow upsetting that's confusing.
