I dont really pay much attention to Vanderbilt personnel and recruiting, but their season thus far lends some credence that Franklin is an amazing coach and will do well at psu.

Wow, the B1G looked like dog [expletive] today.

-Illinois needed to come from behind to beat Western Kentucky.

-Nebraska needed a crazy miracle to beat McNeese St., which is a college named after a 19th century school superintendent

-Michigan St. looked good for awhile and then ultimately got blown out by Oregon.

-Michigan is about to get shut out by Notre Dame

-Northwestern lost to Northern Illinois. And I know Northern Illinois is a really tough mid-major, but you really can't lose that if you're a power conference team that goes to bowl games.

-Iowa barely beat Ball St


-Things could change but THE Ohio State University is losing at home to Virginia Tech right now.

At least 'Sconnie and Penn St. did what they were supposed to do.

LOL "Purdue football" is such an oxymoron these days, you didn't even bother to mention that my Boilermakers were rolled at home by the perennial power that is Central Michigan....

Oh joy --we now get to look forward to the annual, week-long plague of wannabe subway idiots on the Purdue message boards who will extol the pristine virtues of Mantei Teo, and how Paul Hornung really WAS a better player than Jim Brown.....

Because of the Joe Tiller years, I have a much more favorable impression of Purdue football than I probably should.

Is football hazardous to fans' health?

“The body doesn’t distinguish between ‘bad’ stress from life or work and ‘good’ stress caused by game-day excitement,” Gilchrist said. “It impacts your health either way.”

In addition to the effects of stress on the body, some add insult to injury by eating and drinking more than they should while cheering on their favorite teams. Moderation is the key, but people tend to eat more under stress.

Alcohol can further complicate matters, particularly for heart patients.

My favorite tips:

- Help minimize stress by watching the game with people you enjoy.
- Knock out a few pushups and situps during commercial breaks.
- Chew gum or squeeze a stress ball to reduce anxiety and smooth out your emotions.
- Take a brief walk at halftime, or if you are attending the game, take a walk around the stadium or to another section to meet a friend.
- If tailgating at the stadium, try to conserve calories earlier in the day.

Hilarious. It sounds so dumb, but I can admit that the past, oh, 3 hopefully 4 octobers have taken a toll on my body.

Penn State is bowl eligible again after Jim Delaney called in a few favors owed by the NCAA executive committee.

I remember when it was just the rose, sugar, orange and cotton and if you were OK but kind of sucked, the gator or bluebonnet or tangerine bowls. That wasn't enough to keep people distracted so now we have the present system.

There was one season when Dan devine coached Mizzou and they were, say 7-3 and the team voted they were not worthy and did not accept a bowl bid somewhere. Unspeakable today.
