Lawless' other claim to fame: the Reds traded him to Montreal for Pete Rose.

David Freese went hitless in a sixth straight start Wednesday against the Astros.
Freese has one RBI in three weeks, so he's due to keep losing playing time to Gordon Beckham as long as Beckham continues to produce. He's the weaker defender anyway.

So I assume Freese will be non-tendered this offseason. Can he hit lefties?

For his career vs. lefties:

.314/.381/.473 in 547 PA.

For 2014 vs. lefties:

.310/.381/.488 in 97 PA.

Even now, he can still hit lefties.

.604 OPS against RHP, though, which is why his numbers have cratered.

I dunno, he might not have much of a future in baseball other than as a PH you bring in against the LOOGY. Which is something, at least.

Someone noted in the daily GDT that Craig took the golden sombrero last night. 4 for his first 36 with the Red Sox. They should probably just shut him down.

I'd love some pop off the bench (and spot starter) for the Cards, especially against LHP. Not that I'm saying Freese is the guy for this, but I'd take a guy like that today for sure.

He'd probably have to learn to play 1b at the least. Could he play LF without spiking himself?

I did too, was surprised to hear the other day that he's back in the lineup.
