I thought he said he wasn't going to run any more this year.

Skip Schumaker went 3-for-4 with a solo homer in Wednesday's loss to the Red Sox.
Schumaker's rare longball came in the fourth inning off of Anthony Ranaudo, and it was a long one. It was only Schumaker's second home run of the season and the seventh since the beginning of the 2011 campaign. He's hitting .244/.293/.327 for the Reds this season.

Pretty sad thinking he'd be an upgrade.

Edward Mujica nailed down his third save of the season in Wednesday's win over the Reds.
Mujica got the ball in the ninth inning with Koji Uehara having pitched four out of the last five days. It wasn't easy, as he yielded back-to-back singles to start off the ninth. However, he retired Ramon Santiago on a failed sacrifice attempt before getting Billy Hamilton to fly out and Kris Negron to ground out. Mujica isn't close to Boston's second-best reliever, but he has closing experience and remains next in line for saves behind Uehara.

Apparently starting D-backs' OF David Peralta was once a pitcher in the Cardinals' org.

The Pittsburgh Pirates made a move to strengthen their bullpen for the stretch run, acquiring right-handed reliever John Axford from the Cleveland Indians in a straight waiver claim, a source told ESPN's Buster Olney.

Yes. Signed as a pitcher at age 18 in 2006; went 2-6, 5.69 in two seasons at Johnson City. Must have been injured, as he didn't play in 2008 or 2009; Cards released him in 2009. Missed 2010 as well. Played Indy League ball as an outfielder in 2011 and 2012, signed by the D'Backs in 2013 and called up this year.
