i dont think we are guessing on what he thinks religiously. and, if you are christian (religious), doesn't that impact your decisions? doesn't ones relationship with whichever god they choose to follow always come first?

how do you know there wasn't outrage with barkleys comments? again, just because you dont see it here, doesn't mean it didn't happen.

re: weight. ultimately you are right, i suppose, but at the same time, its kinda apples and oranges. i think more folks are threatened or denied rights because of sexuality then they would be for weight. i also dont think religious texts say being fat is a sin.

and if people should be judged on what they bring to the world, why didn't dungy say "i dont think he'd be very good player" instead of bringing up a lame excuse of "distractions" when, as we've discussed, plenty of players bring distractions to a club for reasons other than being gay.

What other players bring distractions? I think GRB is a pretty good microcosm of society in general. What have folks been talking about here?

I'm honestly not sure what you're asking here, Joc. Let's be more specific - what draft-eligible players have brought media distractions to the degree of Michael Sam? Because the NFL draft is what Dungy was addressing, so let's stick wtih that.

To be honest, the bigger problem here is that Dungy was even in a position to have to answer the question. Why was someone even ASKING that question? That's the problem......... it shouldn't even be an issue, at this point, but the media wants to keep writing stories about it. Dungy gave a hypocritical answer, but the media should be called out for continually making it an issue to begin with.

By the way, Jerry Jones said that "distractions" played a role in his team not drafting Manziel. Does that make him a coward, too?

He also said the extracurricular activity that would go along with a pick of “Johnny Football” had to be considered, along with the inevitable talk of a potential quarterback controversy.

"I just think that it needs to be put in the equation as what you’re going to be dealing with, what you’re going to be living with,” Jones said. “The one sure thing was that if he were a Cowboy this morning, it was going to absolutely be not only everything and what he is in the NFL and what have you, but there was no question it was going to be Romo and him, in some form or fashion in every conversation with that. There’s no way it couldn’t have been that."

So basically, Jones didn't draft Manziel partially because of, you guessed it........ "distractions".

Where is the outrage?
