I'd forgotten he was truly awful in 2008, too. I'd hoped he was getting it together after his stay in Colorado last year, but I guess not.Vidor wrote:Sure did. Weird.Radbird wrote:Mitchell just fell off a cliff, didn't he?

Carlos Beltran was diagnosed with two small facial fractures after Wednesday's batting practice mishap.
Beltran had to be scratched from the Yankees' starting lineup on Wednesday night after a ball that he hit ricocheted off the protective "L" screen and struck him in the face. "You don't expect that to happen when you're practicing," the veteran said late Wednesday. "I had a headache for the whole day. Now it's getting better. Hopefully tomorrow it will get better and I could be back soon."

Gump missed a month with a strained hamstring. In 1400+ plate appearances as a Blue Jay he has a .293 OBP.

Blue Jays acquired 1B Brett Wallace from the Orioles for cash considerations; assigned him to Triple-A Buffalo.
David Hall of the Virginian Pilot reported the news of the trade while Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports added the note about cash considerations. Wallace hasn't had much success at the major league level, but he was hitting .265/.329/.389 with 10 home runs in 374 plate appearances with the Orioles' Triple-A affiliate this season. This is his second stint with Toronto, as he was previously acquired from the A's for Michael Taylor before eventually being shipped to the Astros in the Anthony Gose deal. Given the injuries the Blue Jays are dealing with right now, he could see some time in the majors in the coming weeks.

Re: Former Cardinals Watch
This is why prospects are prospects - Wallace hit in college and at every level of the minors (this year is actually his worst year in the minors), but he hasn't cut it at the MLB level. He had about 1 month with the Astros where he OPS'd .900+. Other than that he's sucked at the MLB level.
