Seriously though, you seem to think there are unbeatable teams in this World Cup. You would have to think that head to head would be the first tie breaker. We beat Ghana. It should be that simple.trill wrote:Total goals. So if Ghana wins 1-0, and we lose 1-0, I think FIFA makes some bs up for the tie breaker.AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote:what happens if the US loses to Germany by 1 and ghana beats Portugal by 1?

I would quit watching the world cup if they're allowed to do that....Fat Strat wrote: I hate saying this, but I would love for Klinnsman and Germany to get together this week and just agree to take it easy on each other and go on with a 0-0 tie and some well rested players.

Well, unbeatable by us. I figure we're like that college basketball team from the rinky-dink conference that wins its tournament and goes to the NCAA Tournament with a #14 seed. That team might win the first round, might even go to the Sweet 16! Will not ever win the tournament.trill wrote: Seriously though, you seem to think there are unbeatable teams in this World Cup. Eh, y'all can laugh at me if the Germany game is a non-loss.

Re: 2014 World Cup
Found this about the tie breakers. It's as confusing as possible.
The ranking of each team in each group shall be determined as follows:
a) greatest number of points obtained in all group matches;
b) goal difference in all group matches;
c) greatest number of goals scored in all group matches.
If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria, their rankings shall be determined as follows:
d) greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned;
e) goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned;
f) greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned;
g) drawing of lots by the FIFA Organizing Committee.
I think D is basically "goals scored against each other"... in other words, the winner of the head-to-head matchup. I could be wrong though.

You're wrong but you can assume whatever assumption you want. We are more analogous to a Gonzaga that is good every year (top 15-20 ranked team). We can beat anybody on the day. Probably won't, but definitely could.Vidor wrote:Well, unbeatable by us.
