I hear ya -strong as I've been since college. It would be awesome to travel back in time and kick my younger self's ass.
I couldn't kick my college self ass, but I could my 30 year old ass. For a minute anyway, until I popped my shoulder out of joint, twisted my knee, got a krick in my neck, had my back seize up.

I'm not going to lie, I am falling apart. Maybe more slowly than others my age, but it's happening. I've been doing yoga 2x per week as part of my routine just to try to keep half way loose and prevent the above things from happening.

I will say of all the crap I've been doing lately yoga seems the best. I feel pretty good and loose after it.

yoga does weird and good things to my body. I hear pops from strange places and feel things that don't seem natural, but I sleep like a baby that night.

And dreamer if you are out working in the farm - that counts.

I heard that sitting is worse for your health that smoking cigarettes. I thought of my Dad when I saw that - worked his ass off at a coal fired power plant for 30 years and smoked 3 packs a day until he was 70. In retirement he goes down and works on the farm he owns that he grew up on. 79 years old today, and going strong. Did everything wrong - fried food, cigarettes, a six pack of beer a night. He never was overweight though, and I know it was because he was active. He was always on his feet at work and at home (he built the house I grew up in himself, spent weekends on the farm, etc...). He's 79 and doing great.

Don't respond to him like he's real, you'll only encourage it.

Hell yes. That's core, triceps, lats, shoulders, and legs if you're really getting into it.

The new elliptical shows up on Monday, so after 3 months of sloth I'm ready to get back in the saddle again.

No. You have to be in a gym, lifting gym weights, for your body to receive any benefit.

I think you are right. I think the obesity epidemic in our country has much more to do with our work then anything. Obviously fast food is terrible for you but most people have desk jobs so they sit around all day. Then they get home and night and sit there too. Gotta mow the yard? Sitting... My Grandmother didn't know how to make a meal that wasn't fried. Fried chicken, fried potatoes, fried veggies. My Grandpa lived to be 89 and Grandma 88. They died exactly one month apart interestingly enough. My Grandpa drank and smoked like a sailor. However he was always active. Technically he retired from farming in the early 90s. Of course he still went to the farm and worked every day until he had his stroke at age 87. He still went to the farm after that. Just didn't work much.

My point I guess is his terrible life style of drinking, smoking, eating horribly, and sleeping little didn't seem to shorten his life any.

I of course type this from a desk. I'm pretty sure I'll die young.

Had a brutal finisher tonight, one of the final sets was 70 seconds of ropes. Always makes me think of this commercial:
