I JUST GOT A SLAP BRACELET FOR MY BIKE.

No, but frealz, I kickstarted a Plume and installed it last week. I hope it keeps raining intermittently so I can keep snapping it.

Good thing I kept all those big clothes.
So I need to replace the pile of scrap metal/plastic in my basement. Any recommendations? Get another one or try something different like a treadmill, stationary bike, whatever?

The elliptical gave me a good workout and took it easy on these old joints (which is why I think it's better for me than running). I have a bike I can ride now that the weather is improving, but it was so damn convenient to just head downstairs, hop on and while catching a few innings or whatever's on MLBN.

I joined a gym this week.

I joined online.

Still haven't made it there to pick up my free t-shirt and access card. So far so good!

I'm sitting here with an icepack on my wrist, a weird injury that at once I thought was carpal tunnel and finally realized yesterday is being caused/aggravated by bench press. I suspected that was the culprit, but yesterday made it clear. Wrist felt ok, did some bench for the first time in 2 weeks - nothing over the top just some sets with 185. Felt fine, last night at dinner I noticed it a bit, and before I went to bed I was in pain with certain movements. Now it's ice and wrist braces. What is weird is some things I can do that are fine - barbell work on an incline, pushups with fists (not palm down) etc..

I think bench press messed up my shoulder several years ago(playing baseball made it worse, but it started there). I turned 51 yesterday, and the sad fact is that things I used to be able to do I just can't. I'm in good shape right now, but I really wonder some day if I'll just be so broken down that I won't be able to do what I need to do to stay in this kind of shape.

Good luck lombard

Jim, have you used fat grips? For guys with wrist/hand problems in my gym, they slap on some rubber fat grips for bench press to alleviate the pain.

I haven't, I'll look into them. If anyone knows anything about wrist injuries, read this and see if you can give me a clue:

History - I had about 4 weeks in January where I was in a lot of pain, but it would sometimes come and go. One night on vacation this winter, I thought it must be broke. It was swollen, hurt like hell, and then I woke the up the next day and it was like nothing happened. When I got home from vacation I set up a doc visit in 2 weeks and bought a compress brace. The compression helped, in fact by the time the doc appt. came I cancelled it.

Waited until about March, benched a couple of times and there were hints of it coming back. Figured I needed more time, so I waited until yesterday. Benched in the morning, no pain until late evening.

This is a weird, scary type of pain. Last night, certain movements were excruciating, my fingers felt weak, and range of motion seriously limited. Bending my wrist killed in both directions, but felt like someone was slicing tendons with a knife when I bent it back (which is what is going on with bench press, so that made sense). f I made little circles with my it would "clunk" and then make a popping sound on each rotation. But, no pain doing circles if they were gentle.

It woke me up several times through the night, I took 800mg ibuprofen this am. and iced it and no help. An hour ago, it hurt as bad as it did last night, and I took 800mg if ibuprofen again and iced it. Now - almost completely gone. Clunking is gone, popping is gone, full range of motion is almost there. I still get numbing in my pinky, which I know is related to this (should have mentioned that - I've had a numb pinky for about a year now).

This is just so weird, how does it go from very painful and even tender to the touch in spots to almost no problem at all in an hour?

Also since January I've never stopped doing incline dumbell work, pushups, and various other exercises. I can't do dips, chin ups, or bench. This morning I did a spin class and had to make a fist and keep my wrist straight on the handle bar. It's clearly aggravated by certain movements and motions, and I think it's nerve related somehow.

The biggest problem is I turned 51 yesterday. That's the main problem here, old age.

Happy bday old man. Perhaps for your bday, you should retire the bench press. It's hard to do.

I drank 6 beers watching the game last night, which is alot for me. I woke up this morning and wasn't hung over, but could feel it a little bit. Went out for a run, have only ran outside one time the entire year, and it is actually warm enough to sweat. The combination of all of that I guess, about 1/2 way into a pretty short run (3 miles) all I could think about was the chocolate cake still left at the house. I bonked on the way back, and by the time I got home I felt like my blood sugar was really low. The second I got in the house, I cut a giant hunk of cake, poured a big glass of milk, and wolfed it down.

I'm not sure what benefit I got out of the run today.
