Two reasons I will not like that beer:
1. Goose Island product
2. Beer should taste like beer, not whiskey.

I have a beer that meets all your requirements:jim wrote:Two reasons I will not like that beer:

In all seriousness, I think Goose Island is overrated, but Bourbon County Stout deliveres the goods.

I think they made a lot more of the Bourbon beers this season. I'm still seeing them on shelves, I think in the past they were gone in a few days.

I like bourbon and I like beer, but I don't like the combo. I like plenty of different types of beers, but that's not one of them.
As far as GI, they are one of two brewers locally around here that seem to get high marks that have yet to produce one single solitary beer that I enjoy more than Pabst. The other is Two Brothers.

Re: The Beer Thread
Have you tried Two Brothers Cane & Ebel? Not bad, nice flowery hop profile. That's the only Two Bros I like much.
GI you have to go to the brewpub to get the Glengarry stuff. That's where the fun stuff that the brewers are playing with and having fun with is offered. The beer in stores is the beer that A-B is distributing on a large/national scale for the most part.
Thankfully we have a lot of consistently good locals around here--FFF, Pipeworks, Half Acre, Revolution, Ale Syndicate, Spiteful to name a few of my faves--that the corporatization of GI is fairly irrelevant as far as impact on the quality of local beer.

I about gagged on it. It's terrible. It tastes and smells like someone put a few drops of perfume in it.33anda3rd wrote:Have you tried Two Brothers Cane & Ebel? Not bad, nice flowery hop profile.
