The Perennial Abraxas is [expletive] bonerific. I bought a 750 ml that I plan on drizzling all over my soul early tomorrow in preparation for Thanksgiving dinner.
I can't be the only one that thinks splitting a bottle of anything - let alone beer - is just weird, and that the entire sentence was completely incomprehensible. I don't have the slightest idea what he did with that Belgian quad and I don't want to know. The whole appliance store thing is beyond me as well, but as long as I'm not there I guess I don't really care where he does that.

Eh, it was a 750 mL bottle, and was like $20. It's considered the closest comp to what is widely regarded as the best beer in the world (some monastery in I think Belgium makes it, and they only make a very limited amount every year that is available for purchase).
/turning into a beer snob, but still nowhere as awesome at it as 33/54

If you wanna get real good at beer read this book and when you're reading the sections on styles, pick up a couple from that style and drink just that for a few nights. Try to cook something that is a recommended pairing with it--or if you're in a restaurant decide your beer first then work backwards and pick your food to match based on what you've read. That book was a big part of how I studied for the tasting portion of the cicerone exam.
