I think this one was kind of an accident, but the perpetrator wasn't mortified or anything. I always think audible farts are funny. It's the smelly ones that are gross.

WTF was Jeep thinking with the Cherokee re-boot?



a.) It is hideous.
b.) When you think "Jeep Cherokee", do you think of anything that looks remotely like that? This is like Ford bringing back the Thunderbird, only now it is a minivan.
c.) Good god, that thing is hideous.

Wow, that's bad. Wasn't it just redesigned?

Well they just redesigned the Grand Cherokee for 2014, which was a minor face lift--squinted the headlights a little bit, minor scale changes to the grill, but it is pretty close to the '11-'13 versions.

The Cherokee is a complete re-boot of that model, which had been extinct since ~2000 (replaced by the Liberty, which has now gone extinct). The old Cherokees were fairly cool looking, despite being wildly impractical. This thing is just...ick. Providing the crossover SUV market with nothing that Jeep isn't already providing with the Compass and Patriot, while packaging it in an exterior that looks nothing like you think a Jeep should look like.

Would anyone here ever buy that thing? I'd hesitate to drive it for more than a week, even if I won it on Wheel of Fortune or something. I might even ask for a different car if they tried to give one to me as a rental car.
