Profile of all the MLBers in Japan. Hector Luna is doing OK for himself; Nick Stavinoha isn't.

I'd completely forgotten about Brandon Dickson.

I tend to repress memories of guys whose names sound like a form of genital mutilation.

Now that Jeter is out for the rest of the year can't Ryan be used for the postseason as an injury replacement for Jeter?

No, because he was not in the Yankees' system by August 31.

Lance Berkman: .240/.340/.359, 256 AB for the whole year, 0-12 in September, hasn't batted in a week.

The Yankees should stick with Brendan Ryan for next year if Jeter is going to have limited playing time in the field. Ryan might not be the best hitter in the league but at least he brings great defense, unlike Eduardo Nunez who provides neither.

From what I'm reading, the Cards and the Yankees will be competing against each other in the attempt to get a solid shortstop for 2014 and beyond. The Yankees being the Yankees, they'll probably try to sign one, like Drew or Peralta. The Cards being the Cards, they'll probably try to trade for one, like Alexei Ramirez or Asdrubal Cabrera, unless they decide to go young and try to trade for Owings or Gregorious from Arizona or Gordon from LA.

Matt Adams for SS in 2014. Just think of the offensive production you'd get from that pylon.
