If you really want it to be effective and still feel well enough to exercise, etc...try and make sure those calories in are what the body needs to function. I'd hate to see what you'd feel like if your entire daily intake was consistently something like a Big Mac, fries and a milk shake (approx. 2000 cal if you get the shake at Culvers).
Its really not that bad. I've been eating like [expletive] all summer (burgers, soda, Panda Express, you name it), lifting weights 4x a week and playing pickup ball on the weekends and I look and feel better than I have in years.

To add on to that, I've been eating [expletive] like that multiple times a day (making sure to get enough protein for my gains) and yet I still can't seem to gain the last 5 pounds to get to my 200 goal. I've been stuck at 195 for the last month and a half it seems.

If you're typically burning 3500-4000 calories a day, you can eat a lot of [expletive] and get away with it. If you're restricting yourself to 2000 cal a day, and burning somewhere around 2500 trying to lose about a pound a week, I feel you need to be more selective in your choice of calories to feel good enough to do it indefinitely.

Also, you can eat as [expletive] as you want if you're trying to gain weight.

True. Well, mostly. I'm a big fan of IIFYM (if it fits your macros i.e. Carbs/protein/fat breakdown.

I have been trying to amp up my ability to run in the heat, without drastic performance difference.
Some people are better coping with heat than others (Seems like fit females can adapt better than many guys)

Gradually getting used to it seems to be key. This [expletive] weather isn't bothering me near as much as when it started a couple weeks back. Though I think acclimation would be easier, if could spend less time in AC. Also gradual each time out helps, if the brain's resource conductor goes into panic/survival mode - then I can forget any notion of performing well.

Any tricks that you folks have is welcome.

I don't know what happened, but over the last couple years, I've become like a lizard or something and can be in the heat no problem. We play bball at lunch a couple times a week on a dark red concrete court, so it's probably well into the hundreds. And, going 100% for 30+ minutes 3 times a week in that environment is likely the reason for the change. But, I can stand over a hot grill when it's 100 degrees outside and be perfectly content (so long as I have a beer in my hand, of course). Guys I'm with will usually be like....wtf, let's go inside.

Anyway, that's my story. Oh, and I will sweat like a mother [expletive] when playing ball. I mean, I'll sweat through my gym shorts and whatever kind of shirt I have on. People say that's gross. I don't know. It seems pretty healthy to me. I don't sweat that much though if I'm not exercising in the heat.

I will say that I think exercise is more important than diet. I know there are nutrionist that say otherwise, but I don't believe it. I think you can be pretty healthy and not eating well, but I don't think you have any chance of being healthy if you are completely sedentary.

I sweat buckets. I think that helps, but only to a point . Evaporation is what gives the cooling effect - and when your drowned in sweat and its humid -nothing is evaporating-and all the sweat amounts to is wasted energy.

Some guy that I chatted with for about 7 miles during a trail race thought I should be doubling down on salt/electrolyte tablets - as I was soaked thoroughly on 50 degree day.

I think your lunchtime routine probably helps a lot -your mind isn't [expletive] over by it anymore. Grilling in the heat, pfft - that has never been a problem for me. Maybe I should run pushing a barbecue.
