I'M SAYING the same thing I've said all along. The ACA is not the answer. Regardless of what was in place before, it's not the answer. And, personally, I'm glad people are starting to realize, as evidenced by the mere existence of this thread, that it is not universal health care. the aca was never anything more than a first step. Its amazing it got done in such a polarized environment. It will be made better as time passes I hope.

Regardless of your stance on the ACA, I think that Joe's point can't be emphasized enough. The ACA is revolutionary. It's not going to be perfect right off the bat, but it's hard to deny that something had to be done........ and at least "something" was done to get the ball rolling.

I don't think that anybody, Republican or Democrat, believes that it shouldn't be better. However, you're missing the point that it's the FIRST STEP. The first automobile wasn't perfect. The first computer wasn't perfect. Expansion sports franchises aren't very good initially. It's JUST A STARTING POINT.

Further, anyone that is in favor of getting 'something' done just to change whatever....that's ridiculously illogical. It's going to cost billions of dollars nationwide, both public and private money, to implement these changes. Companies are paying consultants to help them make these changes. Government departments are working full time (and still vastly behind, I might add) to try to meet the deadlines. All this just so hopefully in a couple years another big change, er improvement, will happen? Idiocy, imo.

And the 'polarized' environment consisted of a democratic controlled house, senate, white house, and a sweeping win in 2008.... You couldn't ask for more. It's like the exact opposite of polarized.

It's not illogical at all. We dump billions of dollars of research into a gazillion different things, in hopes of improving upon them. Cancer research is a good example. We don't have a cure yet, but we've got to keep trying.

AW, I'm not even sure what you're arguing, at this point. If you're just dead set against any change that might impact you specifically, then that's one thing. The fact is that the health care debate is over, really. That flag has been planted. The discussion now is either, "What alternative is better?", or "How can we make it even better?". Both of those questions are damn spiffy questions to be asking today instead of, "Should we even do health care?", which again was the status quo prior.
