I guess I read the article as saying the cat was in the shelter for two weeks and no one had come forward yet. Yes, it is unfortunate that so may animals are euthanized because no on wants them.Molly wrote:Mary, cats (and dogs for that matter) featured in news stories never have any problem getting adopted. Orange females are rare, hope she finds a new home soon.A 4-year-old cat that stowed away in a container ship headed from Manila, Philippines, to Los Angeles is gaining weight and getting stronger after the trip without food or water left it near death.
Los Angeles County animal control director Marcia Mayeda says the orange and white female cat was weak and frail after the 7,300-mile trip. But after two weeks of treatments, the feline is in fair condition.

What your cat is saying to you:
What your cat is saying to you:
The greeting – when the cat walks towards you with its tail up, it means it is saying hello
• The sign of trust – when the cat rolls on its back exposing its stomach it is showing it trusts you rather than wanting its belly rubbed.
• The leg rub – when the cats rubs its head and body against your legs it is saying you smell strange and is trying to mark you with its scent
• Flattened ears – when the cat flattens its ears it is frightened and needs somewhere to hide
• Licking of lips – while after eating this can just be it is cleaning itself, at other times it can be a sign of nausea or stress
• The slow blink – the cat will slowly close and open its eyes, turning its head to one side, meaning it is relaxed and is not feeling threatened

both of mine do the "sign of trust" and most times im scratching their head, neck and back but sometimes i'll include a belly rub and they don't seem to mind too much. the younger one i have still very much enjoys that kind of play...the older one, cosmo, is more of the "im just gonna go sit here and sleep. wake me up when you re-fill the food. oh, and check the litter box will ya?"
one thing i think is hilarious is when i scratch their back and particularly the end of the back where the tail develops, that crevice, they both love that. their hind legs go up even further and they stick their butt in the air as i scratch.
