Been a brewfest for me lately in MI and now WI. Great Dane stone scone scotch ale is great [expletive]. Ale Asylum has new facility I just visited, excellent. They have some hoppy brews, but all well done. About 6 deep into their offerings and all have been good. Some scotch ale, a belgian Ipa-bedlam (who knew? ), Ambergeddon, ballistic Ipa

I thought I was a dork for checking ratebeer in the grocery store beer aisle. Then noticed nice attractive lady next to me, doing the same. She even asked me for advice on the local microbeers

Embellished part.....I thrust out my chest and proudly explain the variances between Four Hands, Urban Chestnut, Schlafly, and the likes. She takes it all in. And nods - approvingly, wantingly. Then we both reach for a bomber of Stone's Self-Righteous at that same moment. Our hands meet. We look into each other's eyes. We each take one and purchase it, and head to the parking lot...luckily I had wing sauce in the cart as well.

back to reality
Before the Walter Mitty moment could continue - she calls her husband and just asks him what he wants.

For obvious reasons, these parts stood out quite a bit more than the others:

So I just had to do it, explore. I bought some Lake Louie Scotch Ale up in Wisco and it was absolutely perfection, so I figured maybe I had a taste for that type of beer. I went to Binny's, talked to some guy who was talking about beer in a way that just creeped me out, and he recommended this Founders Scotch Ale. It's terrible. It tastes to me like someone spilled a little whiskey or something in the beer. If I wanted boilermaker, I would have thrown a shot into my PBR.

I've said a million times but this time I mean it - no more experimenting around. And any time some [expletive] starts talking about hints of this and all that bull [expletive], I'm not buying anything from that store. God damn it.

I don't know what temperature you drank the Founders at, but it's a lot better when it's a little warmer. Their beers almost all tend to be really harsh when they're cold.

Yuck. I like cold beer.

And I've tried and tried but I'm just done with IPA's. They just taste bitter to me. That's all. I'll go dig a root up out my yard and chew on it a spell if I ever crave that flavor.

Is Dirty Bastard the scotch ale for Founders? I like it. But have to be in the mood for it. Not a refreshing beer - more suitable for late evening sipping.

A little friendly critique of Schlafly:

I wish Schlafly's would crank it up a notch with the beers they package and offer in stores. Be a bit more risky on the commercial front( and piss off jim. )

I want to have the good stuff. The summer lager -I've been trying to like it, but not a fan.

What's in a name? -should they continue the boring method of naming beers straightforward/obvious. Their pale ale is called Pale Ale. APA is APA . Kolsch is Kolsch. zzzz
