Good. I found Passan's second tidbit to the end interesting in its comparison of Colby and Adam Jones.lukethedrifter wrote:Colby has 16 hrs, 15 doubles. yowzer and 101 ks.

Brad Thompson is still pitching professional baseball, albeit in the Atlantic League. He was a teammate of Brock Peterson last year.

Padres manager Bud Black revealed Monday that Jason Marquis has "significant damage" to the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
It doesn't appear that the Padres have made firm plans yet, but this surely means that Marquis is headed for Tommy John surgery. The sinkerballer posted a 4.05 ERA over 20 starts for the Pads this season but will now likely be sidelined until the second half of 2014. He'll be a free agent this winter.

So Marquis pitching against the Cardinals will most likely be the last game he plays? I can't imagine anyone is going to offer a mediocre pitcher in his late 30's a deal coming off of TJ surgery.

Re: Former Cardinals Watch
Lance Berkman admitted Wednesday that he's considered shutting it down for the rest of the season or retiring due to nagging soreness in his surgically-repaired right knee.
Berkman is on the disabled list with a hip injury, but it appears that soreness in his right knee, which he's had surgery on four times, is the bigger issue. He began doing some running Wednesday, but obviously he's not close to returning. "I’ve definitely thought about it," Berkman said of shutting down for the remainder of the season. "But I haven’t reached any final decisions on it. Hopefully I’ll do the best that I can and help the team. It could also depend on what the team’s needs are. This is an uncertain time of the year for everybody."

On July 28, 2013, Martinez resigned from the position amid allegations of physically abusing Derek Dietrich several months before the resignation. Martinez's behavior in the clubhouse was reported to include verbal attacks towards the Marlins' Justin Ruggiano and Chris Valaika along with minor league player Matt Downs.[11]
