I completely get the reasons for going with a PC over a console. For me it comes down to two things the first being I like to put a disc in and play without having to worry about if my PC meets the specs. For example I want Cities in Motion 2 but I don't have the horsepower for it. So I have spend a few hundred bucks to upgrade my PC just to play one game. That sucks. The second is my friends are on Xbox360. So, that's where I will play.Maclowery wrote:Man, all this console gaming drama is heavy! Hang on, going back to gaming on my corvette of a PC that I can upgrade as I please.
I know GRB is heavily populated by console gamers - but there has to be one or two of you others out there who prefer arguing nVidia vs AMD instead of M$ vs Sony?
I was angry at how fast I filled my 128gb SSD which I use solely for my OS and one game at a time. Honestly I hardly notice a difference gaming compared to my fast physical HD's (after installing on my SSD vs a high-rpm hard disk). I should just keep my 128 solely for Win7, and install everything else on my fastest Hard drive. That didn't stop DrunkMaclowery from ordering a 512mb off Newegg last week. Should be here tomorrow. Now I will for the first time have five separate directly connected drives, plus my external backup and cloud storage. My 18 year old self wouldn't even be able to comprehend my nerd level these days.

Welp, that Nintendo Direct was rather disappointing. Sony has it in the bag this generation.

Re: The Video Game Thread
I got away from PC gaming because I was tired of having to spend hundreds to update my desktop every time a new game come out, and combine that with console games being 99% free of bugs when the late 90's and early 2000's had a run of PC games being released practically broken without patches, and I'd had enough.
That's levelled out some these days (on both fronts: even PS3 games have freezes, crashes and bugs that have to be patched and PC upgrades are far cheaper than they used to be), but I'm still going to stick with dropping a couple hundred once every 5 or 6 years and having a near guarantee that the console game will work as well as it's supposed to on the gaming platform out of the box.

I also like sitting on my couch and playing on a 48" screen. Or having friends over and playing together.

Also, I like playing multiplayer with a controller and you can't be competitive with PC users who use K&M.

i would agree with most of the console users here. i have no problem saying PC is "best", as technically it always will be, but i do not have the time, money or knowledge to keep upgrading a computer. id rather just a decent laptop for porno, i mean web browsing, and a gaming console. and if it has netflix and mlb.tv apps, im pretty much set.

Even though no one is a fan of the XB1's always-on requirements, just when you thought MS couldn't be more out of touch:
