Cards/Phils game 1, 2011 NLDS was on at my reception. Watched Carp's Game 5 gem on my honeymoon in a hotel in Maine.

Why would you get married during the playoffs? Someday you are going to have to go to some dumb ass anniversary dinner and the game isn't going to be on TV there.lukethedrifter wrote:Cards/Phils game 1, 2011 NLDS was on at my reception. Watched Carp's Game 5 gem on my honeymoon in a hotel in Maine.

Ah yes,.Mrs Freedette barnstormed Wisconsin for work and happend by New Glarus. So I am enjoying its anniv Ale . It is Abbey style, which I typically loathe, since a brewer passes its skunky beer off this way. But not in this case.

Ah yes, Mrs Freedette barnstormed Wisconsin for work this week and happened by the New Glarus Brewery Mothership and did a U turn to visit it. So now I am enjoying its Anniversary Strong Ale . It is Abbey Dubbel style, which I typically loathe, since brewers often pass off skunky beer in this style. But not in this case. Excellent.
Only downfall is they limited the take home sale to two bottles. [expletive] cheesheads. Oh well, one for tomorrow.

Re: The Beer Thread
New Glarus is good, but it seems like a lot of these WI beers are a bit overrated. I don't know. Spotted cow and "Totally Naked" are good beer, but they aren't that unlike what I can get in a lot of other places. I also had a Lakefront Brewery sampler pack recently. Some were better than what I can get elsewhere, and some did not measure up. I think my favorite Wisconsin craft brewery is still Water Street.
Maybe it is because it is not something I can get very often, but my favorite state for craft brews is still Oregon. There are beers they make there that not many midwest breweries make. So maybe its not an apples-to-apples comparison. For example, porters are pretty commonplace out there for some reason. Those are kind of hard to find in the midwest.

Oh, I agree . Cheeseheads already have it up there in the Pantheon with Packers and Cheese. But still damn good.
Ale Asylum puts out great beers.
I need to try all the beers all over the world before I pass judgement.

Spotted Cow and Totally Naked are good, but not my favorites. Drink local, try Yokel.

Enjoying one of these right now. A little on the sweet side, but not overpowering.

Goose island Bourbon County Stout
15% stout. Its great, a little too heavy for me. I told my bartender that I wanted to order ice cream and pour the stout over it, it would've been delicious. Hell of a beer. Best for sharing, in my opinion. There's just a ton of flavor in ever sip. Its damn near impossible to drink fast.
