Well first off, that Simpsons episode is lifted straight from "The Adventures of the Crooked Man" the Sherlock Holmes short story.
ALSO, super racist to make the identity thief an Armenian. Those folks have been through enough.
"Mad Men" fits every characteristic of a soap opera. It's just that it's exceptionally well shot, written, and acted, while soap operas are not.
I do grow tired of the latter-day show's compulsion to drag down Don Draper. Supposedly David Chase got pissed off when people rooted for Tony Soprano. It seems like "Mad Men" is doing the same--bringing Don Draper low because we can't have a guy who makes lots of money and beds lots of hot, hot women without feeling bad about it.
"Hannibal" was also surprisingly good. If you had told me someone was considering another Hannibal Lecter story a few months back, I'd have said it's an awful idea. Supposedly it does everything right that The Following does wrong, or something like that.
Speaking of the Simpsons...saw last night that there's a new show coming on CBS called "Under the Dome" (novel by Stephen King in 2009) that looks similar to The Simpsons Movie.
