I wait on him from time to time and he makes me leave the bottle on the table after I pour his Kraftig into a glass. He says his dad taught him it was good advertising.

I've been drinking a lot of 21st Amendment lately. Big fan of their work.

I first tried an Ayinger Celebrator last month in Wichita at a sushi restaurant - Sumo I think was the name of it. Just found it available at our local beverage store.

Jim wouldn't be a fan since it comes in a 4-pack. $15.99 for 4 11.2 oz bottles... I happily bought two of the three 4-packs they had left.

Only beer I've ever drank that was rated a perfect 100 on Beer Advocate. And each bottle has a plastic miniature goat tied to a string (or perhaps a ram?), so you have little Christmas ornaments or something. Although I did think of the idea of giving them to girls I meet at a bar so I know who I've hit on and been rejected by at the end of the night.

It was $4.99 for a 6-pack before their 100% rating.

that looks like a bottle to me.

also, I'd think a Celebrator would stomp all over sushi.

Bitter American is my go to beer. So good. It's light on calories, and alcohol, not on flavor.

Scratch Brewery in Ava, Il -popeye card's former neck of the woods, I believe- is fantastic. After first hearing about it, I had my concerns that it was going to be some sort of hippie beer place. After all, they have used mushrooms in one of their beers. And it's pretty much in the woods.

The place and the beer is fantastic. I hope they get some distribution going soon because the 2 hour drive is nice but a bit much on a regular basis.

examples

arugula rye
rye porter bittered with organic arugula from all seasons farm in cobden, illinois, and blended in the fermenter with roasted arugula root, giving the beer a roasted coffee-like aroma.. 6.0% abv

spicebush tripel
full-bodied belgian tripel with banana and clove aromas and a spicy, peppery finish which is a combination of the phenolic yeast strain and the addition of spicebush berries in the boil. 6.3% abv

barrel-aged baltic porter
a malty, chocolatey baltic porter was aged in fresh alto vineyards chambourcin barrels to impart an oaky flavor and aroma with a hint of chambourcin wine. 6.0% abv

stein-brewed sahti
a twist on our popular finnish style ale. deeply malt-forward beer with moderate bitterness, largely from the addition of cedar branches in brewing process. boiled entirely with hot granite rocks dropped into kettle. 7.0% abv
