movie....ok, it was decent. but that tv show was a piece of [expletive], unless you were a 16 year old girl.

Various developments in Bissinger's life subsequent to the publication of 3NiA kinda explain why the book is so awful. The writing isn't good, but it's still pretty difficult to make TLR that unsympathetic when the point is to present him in a positive light. Bissinger is so off-kilter that he apparently struggles to understand that an insufferable jerk is an unappealing character even if the jerk also happens to be passionate. Bissinger might as well have been writing about a spree murderer.

Colby Rasmus just isn't that talented. The warning was there for everybody to see when he struggled at AAA in 2008.

I don't see how 3NiA makes TLR look like an "insufferable jerk". Of course, I tend to regard him more favorably than others might.

TLR's insufferable-ness wasn't subtle. Nobody, not even his own family, wanted to be near him for six months out of the year. The only positive I took from the book was that he's so disconnected from everyone around him that it's quite plausible that he really had no idea about steroid use on his teams.

Placido Polanco will be batting cleanup for the Marlins.

That isn't an April Fool's joke.

Blasphemy!

It was actually a really good show and won some several awards. The coach is the main character.

The only thing I know about the series is that one of the actors (the one who played the guy in the wheelchair, I'm told) played the young Rex Racer in the Speed Racer movie. The only thing I know about "Lost" is that one of *their* actors played the older Rex Racer in the Speed Racer movie. Never watched a single episode of either of those series.
