Would this be driving a soul-less car/truck?

http://littlerock.craigslist.org/cto/3672704427.html

I've been kind of looking that is 'kid friendly' as my truck apparently is so old that the back seat isn't equipped to handle a car seat and it's now illegal to put them in the front seat.... though there's no pressing need. But, I have two criteria: Can pay cash and I wouldn't worry about it catching on fire and killing us all when I'm driving to church. So, inspired by this thread, I just started looking again. There was a $1450 2003 Nissan that I probably should have pulled the trigger on but whatever.

That truck ad is definitely sketchy. BTW if you are serious considering a Tundra they are pretty decent for a light truck. You could never do any real work with one but most pick up trucks never do any real work.

How sexy can a sedan get? BEHOLD the power of an AMG Mercedes. lol

Ok, I admit it's not affordable, but I think they are stunning in every way.
Yeah, no argument there, but it also kind of makes my point. A new one (if I found the right car on Edmunds) is $212,000. I'd have to be a 2-percenter or Powerball winner to spend that much on a car.

So, in a comparable price range, is a Malibu/Accord/Mazda 6/Altima/Sonata/Optima/Fusion/Legacy any less boring than a Camry?

Ha. I'm just the opposite. I love driving but can't stand being a passenger.

I like the stuff that comes with being in a car - scenery, music turned up, wind blowing in. Mass transit gives you 2 out of those 3, and I'd do that in a heartbeat if I could.

I Can't stand being in a vehicle and not driving. Mass transit in most cities sucks. It really sucks in Phoenix.

How exactly can we have a discussion on boring cars without mentioning this?

I actually quite like the Optima and at several 1,000 less then the Camary it's good value. Do you really need a mid sized sedan? Could you go with something a little smaller like a Chevy Cruze which is a very good car, and quite fun with the turbo 4 engine.

If I had to shop for a sedan in that 25k range though I'd pick up a used Pontiac G8 GT. Epic performance, great looks, superb handling, and it sounds great too. Plus it's a full sized sedan. You can get one with less then 20k miles on the odo for 25k.

Back to Mercedes for a second. You can actually get some AMG Merc sedans under 100k. I think Nic's E63 AMG was like 99k all said and done. Of course she didn't have to pay for it so who cares. lol The C63 comes in right around 70k. Which is still insane money and there is no chance in hell I'd pay that for a car.
