Farmed fish are almost never preferable to wild fish. They are fed Purina catfishchow their entire life and taste as such. Bottom feeding fish might be different as they literally eat [expletive] in the wild, but I don't eat those types.

I like fatty farmed salmon over the wild stuff. I don't like grass fed beef either.

Farmed salmon is just foul. The swim around in fetid pens surrounded by and ingesting salmon fecal matter. No thanks.haltz wrote:I like fatty farmed salmon over the wild stuff. I don't like grass fed beef either.

My wife was in Hyde park and brought home sandwiches from Obamas favorite place .. manny's. She got me a pastrami, basically 5 pounds of greasy meat on a lousy piece of bread. If you ever wonder why people in Chicago are so fat and ugly, look no further than the crap they shove down their throats. I'm pretty sure if I put some mustard on a brick and swallowed it I would feel exactly the same as I do right now. $15 for one sandwich. God damn it.

Artificial beats natural any time unless you can slap an organic tag on it and charge 3x as much.lukethedrifter wrote:Farmed salmon is just foul. Responsible and sustainable fish farming is the way to go imo. Wild fish are a dwindling resource. Loch Duart salmon is delicious.

This might be maturity or age or I don't know what, but the older I get the more I care not only about how food tastes, but how it makes me feel. I don't want to go through what I went through last night with that sandwich. Oh it was good, the first few bites. About the halfway point it felt ... heavy. By the time I was finishing I realized I made a very very bad mistake in eating this thing.
I think this is why I like eating grilled fish so much, not only does it taste good but I feel good. Two hours after eating a nice piece of fish I feel like I could go for a long run. Two hours after eating that sandwich I had last night I was just hoping I was going to be able to pass it without ripping my colon apart. This is why I haven't had a donut in many years. Seconds after I eat that I fell so bad. Stomach hurts, I have this weird spike of energy, I'm nervous and jittery, my heart rate doubles and I'm not sure it's even a regular beat ... It's not worth it.

More to the point above. Today I had a nutrigain bar for breakfast and a bowl of soup for lunch, so very little food in my stomach. Yet here I sit suffering through a 5 pound [expletive]. It's unbelievable. I'm sure almost all of it was a pastrami sandwich in a prior life.

Jim, you didn't realize that was going to happen when you ate a $16 pastrami sandwich that probably did have a couple pounds of meat on it? You should know your in for trouble eating that.
Not really much of a comparison in eating what is probably an 8-10 oz filet of some type of fish.
You consumed probably 3-4 times the amount of food in the sandwich.

Third giant and difficult [expletive] of the day. I am going to go to the south side and kick Manny in the nuts. Trust me, if Barack is getting this delivered he Is clogging up the white house [expletive]. It's awful.
