Question for all cat owners/lovers: do you really take them into the vet annually for checkups if nothing is wrong? Not necessarily trying to be cheap, but I don't even go in for an annual physical. All of my guys are relative youngsters too. It's time consuming for us and stressful for them too. Also, I didn't do it for my cats that passed away and they both lived to be 15 (and they were indoor/outdoor cats before I knew better).
We just got a notice that two of our two year old cats are due for their annual checkups, etc. and an EKG?!?
Sidney (6 years old) and Erik (4 years old) don't go to the vet unless there's a need (shots or to treat a problem). I would take them in for a annual physical if it didn't cost so much money.
i just took in my 2 cats on saturday. cosmo, who is...6 going on 7, got his annual physical and a shot, and noomi who is 3-4 months old got her 2nd round of boosters and another round of flea/mites treatment. cosmos "physical" was the most expensive thing...all told it was over $100 (though i did buy a water additive for their teeth which was like another $25). they're both exclusively indoor cats so it probably is "pointless" to have them go in for checkups and what not but they'll probably be the only "kids" i'll have so i guess thats a sort of justification. or not.
planet we never take our's to the vet unless they're sick. All are strictly indoor cats and I see no need to have them vaccinated. We do try and check their teeth. Lost one to kidney failure due to periodontal disease.
