I accidentally wound up in Singapore during the Great Honeymoon Adventure of 2008, and can confirm this. They have maybe a million guest workers from Pakistan, India, and southeast Asia there - all on guest worker visas, all living in specific areas, and none of whom will be allowed to stay.
