I just think it's funny that ultra-pc individuals are afraid to say anything other than "African American" and often refer to individuals who are not American as being such... like when ESPN called Lewis Hamilton (British) an African American.

Meh, I have a son about exactly that age and he cries like that sometimes when he doesn't get exactly what he wants. I think they probably should have given it to him since it was thrown into the stands but I think the rule changes a bit when it's a live ball foul ball or homerun. If I ever get a ball from a live ball play, I really don't plan on giving it to a stranger.

Is it being ultra-PC, or grabbing onto an adjective without much thought when typing for a deadline? That's more like typing a cliche, or trying to figure out standard ways of addressing someone socially. It's sloppy reporting. I don't think it's a source of concern if people are acting in good faith--both the writer and the person described. Of course, that differs from trying to create a quick social bond by throwing out a slur.

The toddler can't be more than 3 years old. Crying over a missed foul ball is a normal reaction for a kid of that age.

So the answer is to give a three year old anything he asks for.

This isn't about giving in to the kid. The kid's reaction was irrelevant. It just glorified the situation.

This is about the adults not understanding common decency.
