Re: The Asshat Thread
Maybe that was the 1,000th foul ball of the batter's career. Now he'll never have a dented memento of that proud accomplishment.

Make sure to push the kids down when you go for the ball too...gotta make sure they know their place.

Re: The Asshat Thread
Somewhere on here I have a foul ball story from last May at Wrigley. Long story short was it was a line drive that some mousy 20-something girl tried to get her hands on as her even mousier b/f was getting the hell out of the way, it split her thumb open and bounced right to my son as a scrum ensued looking for it. I never saw any of this because some asshat in back of me ran me over as it was coming our way and I went to turn and confront him as the ball was bouncing around. The crowd started chanting to give it to the mousy girl, and some fat ass women 3 rows in front was screaming to give it to her. Everyone was asking for the damn ball and since I didn't see what happened I wondered if my son stole it from someone. He didn't, it just literally rolled right to him, just everyone be greedy. Well the mousy girls was just sitting there with her thumb bleeding waiting for the Cubs crack medical staff/ushers to come down and check her out, people got a chant going to give it to her, and it didn't seem worth it to keep it so he gave it to her. People cheered him and then some random guy a couple of rows up bought us a beer.

I think it was pretty douchebaggery of them. I know for a fact I would have given that ball to the kid.

Agreed completely.AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote:++Transmogrified Tiger wrote:The enjoyment is in catching the foul ball, not taking it home to the mantle so you can share the story about how you snagged a 2-1 foul ball from Corey Hart in the 3rd inning. Giving the ball to the kid makes their day and they'll remember getting a ball at the game. It's a win-win.Adrian Wapcaplet wrote:I'm adamantly opposed to the "Give it to a kid" philosophy. I started going to baseball games in 1966 and always hoped I'd get a foul ball--I never hoped some random guy in the stands would give me one. How much meaning can you attach to a ball that was handed to you by an insurance salesman from Cedar Rapids anyway?
In the case of the video, the crime isn't that the crying kid didn't get a ball, but that the yuppies outfought a kid to get a ball that Mitch Moreland is underhanding to the crowd, then kept it for themselves. Dead on thread title there.

[expletive] that kid. Seriously. What kind of spoiled little brat is that who cries because he didn't get the ball? His parents didn't look particularly upset that the couple didn't give him the ball. That guy wasn't being a douche and knocking people over to get the ball it just ended up in his hand. He's sitting there having a good time with his girlfriend and they're happy they got a ball. What, they're supposed to pay attention to everyone around them? Just because some little dip [expletive] cries that he didn't get a toy and they don't notice they get mocked on the internet?
