The plotting all season long has been...complicated. Too many twists and double-crosses. And Limehouse has done nothing but prep pigs. Still, it's a good set up for what promises to be a killer o a season finale next week.JL21 wrote:I thought that episode was a step back for Justified.

I'm surprised to be saying it, but New Girl is one of the better network comedies I've seen in a few years. Very typical setup, but the characters/actors are all very good. It's almost the anti-30 Rock in how much it avoids quick cuts. It's hard to explain but scenes that would normally get cut off after the first joke are allowed to extend and play out, and flow into something else. Almost a little Robert Altman-like, at least in a 30 minute comedy context. And no laugh track, which is a nice bonus.
Another nice thing - the characters aren't overly crude or sarcastic and genuinely give a damn about each other. Almost as refreshing as IASIP, but in the opposite way.

I don't hate it. But that SNL gag, "Quirky" does make me roll my eyes at Zoe D. 2 Broke Girls, for whatever reason, makes me laugh - but not enough to remember when it is on or what channel.ghostrunner wrote:I'm surprised to be saying it, but New Girl is one of the better network comedies I've seen in a few years. What a disarming season finale of Justified.

Seriously though, that didn't feel like a Justified season finale. Usually they wrap it up in a box with a badass bow (maybe one with Wild Turkey bottles and glocks on it). Last night's ending was heavy. Maybe it sets it up for some real animosity between Raylan and Boyd next season.

I tried to convince myself that Catherine Tate's arc on The Office was a brilliant scheme to make us appreciate Steve Carell even more by showing how awful the character would be in the hands of a bad comedic actor, but the writing in this last episode was just too goddam terrible. It's apparent that everyone involved just basically checked out when Carell was leaving the show.
