Re: The Beer Thread
For anyone that's interested Bell's Hopslam should be hitting the shelves sometime soon (in pretty limited fashion). For those that haven't tried this beer & are fans of IPA's this is a MUST try. Fantastic stuff, and beware because it typically lands in the 10% ABV range. It is pricey ($17 a six pack) but its well worth it.

The guy at arena told me they sold out of "bud light platinum" in a matter of hours. 140 calories, 6% abv and a bottle that says bud light. Apparently this is a real thing.

If I remember correctly in jim's Ireland thread, he drank mostly Bud Heavy and Guinness.

What did you drink when you went to the Emerald Isle?

Despite what one might expect, Ireland has an unusually limited number of choices of beer. But the Guinness is great so it doesn't matter. Belgium is where you want to visit if you're looking for endless choices of beer/ale. http://beer.made.in/Belgium/list.htmjim wrote:Me? Good stuff IMHO.
Anybody else tried it?

Not sure why, but I've never really been a huge fan of Guinness. I thoroughly enjoy stouts, but Guinness just doesn't do anything for me. I guess it tastes too light for a stout.

I have 5 of them I can send you. Was not a fan, had an overwhelming taste of pepper IMO, and not in a good way if pepper in beer can be good.doe_boy wrote:

My Irish friends were happy as hell when AB started distributing Bud Light in Ireland about 5 years ago. There just weren't many light beer choices.Richie Allen wrote:Despite what one might expect, Ireland has an unusually limited number of choices of beer. I like it. But not as much as expected. Bear Republic-Hop Rod Rye, and the Founder's Red Rye exceed it, IMO.
Along Carps' notion -someone should organize a beer swap. I have some Bells Winter White to swap out (not a fan of the belgian abbey style).
