Last night I had a couple of demi-pints of a fine Irish South American Colorado amber bock caramel cream coffee ale lager stout.
What a [expletive] minute? In the almost the same breath that you mock growler, you use DEMI pint??

I recently came in to a kegerator and it should be fixed this week and I was thinking about trying it out.
My brother does and he has a lot of problems but doesn't seem to recognize them. Over/under carbonated, and ALWAYS a sludge about 1/2" thick on the bottom. And with each sip he comments things like "Pours with an orange color" (no it doesn't, it pours out in chunks of varying colors). "Scent leads with whiffs of light fruit and sourdough bread, minimal sweetness and light spices." (no it doesn't, it smells the cabinet where I keep my house chemicals). "It has a sparkling bubbly finish" (no it doesn't, it's so over carbonated that my stomach just lurched up all of the excess gas in one of the most painful burps I have ever had). And then he tries to be honest ... "Just a little bit of an aftertaste I need to improve on". (now there is an understatement).

I'm polite and will try to drink it, my Dad gave up that game up a while ago. It's been 50 years I bet since my Dad hasn't had a beer or five during the day, and he just flat out refuses to drink it. I actually saw him drink a Coke once in lieu of my brothers homebrew.

I do, my batches have been absolutely delicious so far. Looking forward to cracking open my new batch of pale ale for Mardi Gras.

Maybe I shouldn't try it. Friend did get a Mr. Beer as a wedding gift and made an IPA thing, filled up some 2L bottles to let it go. We poured it and it was...well just terrible. He sipped it and said "[expletive] that. Go pour it out. No one should have to suffer through that."

I'm glad I didn't have to say anything.

I've had about an 80% success rate, and I wouldn't ever recommend using a Mr. Beer. Maybe a decent brew requires a serious brew kit and fresh ingredients. I've had friends request specific brews that I've made because they've enjoyed them. I'm the opposite of Jim's brother, where I [expletive] and moan about the faults in my beer and my friends drink it happily over anything else in the fridge.

Invest in a decent brew kit, find a local brewstore, and try 5 batches before you quit.

Its easy to regulate carbonation with the keg. If he was having issues I bet he rushed it, cranked up the pressure to force carb it quickly. Just set it and forget it, and you will have perfectly carbed beer in 2-3 weeks.
Heres a beer snob review generator.

"Pours a translucent light brown with a soft, pillowy head. Sexy lacing. Lovely smoky nose, maybe a little old newsprint and vanilla. Brilliant spicy taste, laced with a touch of coffee and pine. Creamy mouthfeel and dry finish. Score: 3.75/5."

For you home bottlers here is a beer label generator
