Ten Winter Ales Ranked
The Samuel Smith Winter Welcome is pretty good but I've had many winter beers I've like better. Great bottle though.
Yep.

Really like the Schlafly Winter ESB.

Been a while, but that Hibernation -Great Divide, it was worthy of a spot on the list.

in addition to the Winter ESB from Schlafly's, their Scotch Ale is pretty good.

Chicago, surprisingly, was a craft beer desert until relatively recently. While Goose Island (whose offerings are generally meh) has sold out to the Dark Side, there are some pretty good local brewers going at it.

The best: Half Acre. I enjoyed one of these tonight:

My friend left over half of his Kraftig Light 12 pack over here last night-so I will give it another try.....a few sips and - not sure what this is, sort of like a flat Blue Moon. I'll pour it into a cup to give it a fair shake,...backwash tasting, stale bread.... Good grief it sucks, I don't care how much they market it - my friend was taken in by the "German Purity Laws" BS. [expletive] the German purity laws, I'm going to return this beer to its owner.

Edit - left the swill sit for about 10 minutes while chatting with my wife. Completely flat and devoid of any positive flavor. Sewer water.

I am clearly the target market for Kraftig. I like it. But I like Schlafley Pale Ale, Blue Moon and Shock Top. Not a sophisticated beer palate, I assume.

Schlafly sale goes through. Apparently Tom Schlafly's interest sold to Sage Capital partners.

I tried Kraftig Lager this past weekend and I don't get why people think it's [expletive]. It's just a decent crisp lager. Good beer to get drunk to.

Welp, I'm going to give it yet another go-since I have some more free ones sittting out there. And I am ready for a frickin beer....pouring it now. fizzy for a brief moment. going flat quickly. Pee-u - did the big galoot just rip one, or is it my feet? Ah it's Kraftig -German for sewer water. Crsip? with that funky aftertaste?

Ok, I am being over dramatic, but I do not like Kraftig beer. I have tried in a bottle, I have tried it in a cup, I have tried it when I'm drunk, I have tried it when I'm undrunk. I have tried it regular and light. I do not like kraftig beer.

But that is the joy of beer drinking. To each his own. I'd take a Busch or a Miller High Life or MGD over this any day.

I've never tried the light, I'd imagine it's not good, but to me the Lager was comparable to Bud heavy, which I've always enjoyed as a get-drunk beer.

I liked "Light" and "Lager". Also, it is very cheap.
