It's not an option-based offense anymore. At least, not based on the last few games (which I will assume is the direction they're moving in). Now, that's not to say that they're not running the option at all, because they have been. But it's not the base of their offense anymore, and it won't be. I'd imagine the option was less than 15% of their plays. And Tebow has shown promise of running that style of offense.

Just to elaborate on that. Last 3 games:

Passing:

1)Tebow: 42 out of 77 for 632 yards
2) Cam Newton 44 out of 83 for 629 yards

Rushing:
1) Tebow: 28 carries for 155 yards
2) Cam Newton: 28 carries for 145 yards

Denver's offense hasn't been any more "gimmicky" than Carolina's, and Tebow has actually shown to be as good a passer as Newton, as the season has progressed. Now, maybe they'll both crash and burn at some point, but I'm wondering why we don't see any "Newton" rants (I assume it's because of the Tebow media hype?).

Neither Carolina or Denver run a traditional pro style offense. "Gimmick" offenses have been around forever and have never been sustainable at a high level. I think most scouts will say that Cam has a better chance of developing into a traditional "pro style" QB because he doesn't have that long, slow delivery.

We don't see any Newton rants because he isn't the lead on every sports show, he wasn't the cover boy of SI, and there certainly was never a full hour "Tebow Center" and network constantly singing his praises.

If that's really the reason, then I definitely get it. I love the Broncos and Tebow, and even I've seen enough.

That's my reason. Like I've said, I really have nothing against the kid.

We just don't agree on his abilities and prospects....which is fine.

Who knew our most active offseason thread would be about football in the rants forum?

I hope he throws for 300 yards next week and then comes back and throws four picks and runs for only 25 yards the next. As a guy that hardly gives two expletives about the NFL, and doesn't watch ESPN but for games 9and not NFL, I really find pleasure in the hysteria.

What I enjoy most is that it all starts at the same place: 'Why does everybody (choose one) love/hate this guy?!!!!!' He's almost like a Republican or Democrat president.

I was mad that I willingly subjected myself to this thread but page 5 made it completely worth it.

I wish there was a 24 hour sports network to feed me my talking points.

We could use more guys with Tebow's attitude. Not saying we need religious players, but less wiener pics and more Kurt Warner personalities.

You can't look at a personality on the internet.
