I still can't believe he is gone.
Wow. I really never thought it would happen.

There's no one to be angry at. I'm sad. Quite sad.

Thanks for 11 great years Albert.
Now, how am I going to explain to my 5 year old that Pujols isn't on the team anymore?

I'm surprised, but surprisingly not upset either.

I'm just happy we're not the ones coughing up that dough.signthief wrote:Waaaay too much money. I really think you guys dodged a bullet here. I know it's gotta be devastating on some level, but I bet it works out well for you guys.
Yep. I think that's the right attitude, although I really don't know what it feels like to lose a guy like him.
It'll feel a little weird when Fielder signs elsewhere, but we didn't have a long, storied relationship like you guys did with Pujols.

Rough day for Cardinals fans. We lost a legendary player, the defining player of our generation. That's the nature of the game now. Sad but true.

This is exactly where I am.wart57 wrote:Now I am [expletive] depressed.
I can't blame him for taking the money, but really, $250 to $260 million? Is it really worth destroying your legacy in St. Louis?
[expletive] you Albert.

Exactly. Time to wrap our heads around the notion that there is no more mythological True Cardinal like Stan Musial. He was the last of that mold. The players we love today will be gone tomorrow for the right price. Even ones that seemed to care about this legacy stuff, like AP.jagtrader wrote:Rough day for Cardinals fans. At least he has a new charity to donate to. (Vernon Wells still plays for the Angels, right?)
