Thanksgiving with the girlfriend's family means no alcohol.
I started and finished The Art of Fielding on Thursday/Friday; anyone else read it yet?

I'm starting on Rainbow Six by Tom Clancy. I've been meaning to read it for a long time and finally am getting around to it.
Good book...I read several years ago....didn't think i would ever finish it as my reading time is limited and it is somewhat long

Also I am reading Sixty Feet Six Inches and love it.

Brother is in recovery, so it made sense, but it was still brutal.
The Art of Fielding isn't a technical book, it's a novel centered on a small Midwestern DIII school, it's baseball team, and 5 individuals (baseball phenom, his best friend/team captain, his gay roommate/teammate, President of the University, President's daughter). It's a book about sacrifice for realized and unrealized goals/desires, the consequences of unbridled commitment to a singular task, relationships (good/bad, gay/straight, platonic/sexual), the Cardinals (seriously), etc. etc.

Re: Book thread
tons of gays at D3 schools, but there are certainly no baseball phenoms. I reject the premise.

Slickest fielding, no-est hitting phenom. The Art of Fielding is a fictional baseball book that the kid idolizes... authored by a fictional Cardinals shortstop considered the greatest fielder in baseball history.haltz wrote:tons of gays at D3 schools, but there are certainly no baseball phenoms. Just about done listening to A Game of Thrones. Pretty good. Drags a little, but that's to be expected in setting up a huge series, I suppose. I could definitely feel better about the book if there wasn't sex scenes involving a 13 year-old.
