My beer aficionado friend has been raving about the Shiner Holiday Cheer for 24 hours now. Something about a distinct taste of pecans and a tiny hint of peach that doesn't turn it fruity but smooths everything out.

Gonna have to try that (if I can find it here).

I've had it. It sucks. Like jl's buddy said ... pecans, peach. Add cinnamon too. 'Nuff said.
Had one. Yuck. Agree that it sucks.

anybody have the Schlafly Christmas Ale? Picked up a 6 pack last night. It does have a hint of cinnamon to it, but it's subtle enough that it's alright. Definitely has a Christmas taste to it. I like it, definitely not something I'd drink regularly, though.

noticed through the haze that they had most of the lineup from maybe a half-dozen Missouri breweries on tap. 2nd Shift, Schlafly, Urban Chestnut, Ferguson etc. and probably 50+ beers on tap at this point. If you go in the early evening it won't be wall-to-wall douchebags and you can try a bunch of local beer.
Yeah, there are about 4-5 newer local breweries I've yet to try in earnest. Can someone give a general ranking on them?

Not meant to be really.
Thought about having one at the bar the other day but when for the cask rye apa. I don't want to drink Christmas beer until I'm ready to hear Christmas music.
Couldn't find it on the bottle so I don't know if the ABV is the same but on draft it's 8%, something to keep in mind.

Good point, I'll keep it in mind when I have to sit in a living room all day with all my dad's side of the family Christmas day.

Last night being buzzed and walking into Schnuck's, it seemed like a good idea. In retrospect, I wish I would have picked up the Schwarzbier instead. Had that last weekend and it was delicious.

I like cinnamon on my French Toast with a little sugar. Not in beer. I like regular old Shiner Bock, but there other offerings are terrible.

btw ... when did it become cool for weirdos to drink beer? I was in Binny's last night, and like every other night I am in there I always run into a couple of weirdos speaking in a language I do not understand about beer. I mean the words on English, but they make no sense. Texture ... boquet ... tenure ... tart ... hints of rosemary or whatever the [expletive] ... wtf is that? What are they talking about? It's beer. Drink it. And for god's sake don't spend $15 for a freaking 4 pack. And a 4 pack? What is that bull [expletive]? Kiss my ass if I'll ever buy a 4. I'll do a 6, prefer a 12, and would rather have a case. But 4? [expletive] that. I ain't buying no [expletive] 4 pack. Ass holes.

I want to submit that post to 60 Minutes so they hire JIm to replace Andy Rooney.
