I bought a sampler of Sam Adams that had two of the Pumpkin beers. I was able to drink it, but definitely not what I am looking for. The worst is something they call Bonfire, which is aptly named because it tastes just like you would expect your socks to taste after sitting around a fire all night. Literally could not finish it.

Yeah that and $3 will get a foul tasting Pumpkin Schlafly draft at your local bar. BeerAdvocate has no idea what they are talking about and their ratings are stupid.

Allegedly, the Southern Tier Pumking is one of the very best pumpkin beers around. Anyone ever tried it?

I don't even know if it's available anywhere near STL.

Southern Tier is distributed in the area- Illinois anyway, because I had something from them at a place in Grafton.

I've always been gun shy of that brewery because of the name. It sounds like some jackass band that Early Cuyler would listen to.
