I think this is a negotiating tactic to squeeze a few more $$ out of the offer. I bet they sell for around $175M.

Well, it's one of those "sounds too good to be true" things. Strickland is pretty suspicious of him, and I have a hunch that his doubts stem from whispers he's heard from the Blues front office.

Then there's the issue of it being an all-cash offer. Which sounds incredible. But if you have $167MM in cash handy to purchase a franchise, you must be a pretty rich/famous guy. So it is odd that when you do a google search for "max chambers calgary", almost all of the results are just about his offer for the Blues. So he's a rich "Calgary Businessman", but no one seems to know what business he's in yet has all this cash on hand. Kinda odd.

But word is that the Hulziser bid was in the same ballpark (somewhere around $160MM), and was also rejected thus far. So it does seem like the Blues are being a bit unreasonable about what the franchise is worth. The Stillman bid is very telling.

More Strickland.

Nobody is taking Chambers seriously. Here’s a guy who’s looked at several NHL teams including the Atlanta Thrashers, Phoenix Coyotes, Los Angeles Kings, and now the St. Louis Blues. He always seems to have a reason for why things didn’t work out in his favor.

I can’t argue with the fact that he might have made a $167 million offer to buy the team but as one person close to the sale of Blues tells me “you could make an offer if you wanted to.”

Guess we shouldn't rush to judgement on Chambers' offer.

So it sounds like the Blues may have listened a bit, determined that he didn't really have $167MM in cash or financing to hand over, and have dismissed the offer.

This is great news. I don't think they'd announce anything if they weren't completely sure he was healthy. I wonder if he'll start the year in Peoria to get his legs back.

I think he should. He's been out almost a full year.

Very pleased about Perron. Take it easy with him and he can spend Christmas in Peoria and be "just like making a trade!", getting called up a couple of months later.
