Like the beginning of the best horror movie never made. Which I hope the show turns into.

There are 18 episodes of this series left. If they're as good as the last 20 have been, then this is going to go down as one of the best TV shows ever made.

My only problem with last night's episode was
[SHOW]
the death, or severe injury, of Ted Beneke. It was very convenient to the remainder of the plot, sort of a cop-out.
Beyond that, it was as perfect as TV can get.

I was beginning to feel this way last year, but I think the first two episodes of this season have brought me back. I thought the premiere was exceptionally funny.

I even kind of enjoyed that, especially if the falling oranges were an homage to The Godfather.

Just watched it. And Holy [expletive]. Yes.

I sort of agree with you on Ted, but I felt like it was just part of the dark humor the show has always kind of had. They set it up pretty good in the beginning when he tripped on the rug. I don't know what he was running for, I guess to call the cops? But as big of a pushover as he is, I think him giving in to the check writing (as the 'A Team' Planned) wasn't a stretch and this was a more humorous way to deal with it. Even having the guys kill him didn't seem like it would have been a big issue either, except for maybe with Skylar. I just wrote it off as the 'chuckle' we try to find in each show.

Or more succinctly, it wasn't as bad as Dexter and less of a big deal.

It is convenient for Ted to have died so quickly, but what were they going to do with him, really? Maybe if the show had another couple of seasons they could have kept him around so we could watch him go down the moral toilet with everyone else but he served his purpose. Plus, now Skyler has blood on her hands, which is great.

I'll be watching. It has good reviews.
It's supposed to be very Spielbergy. So, probably more quality entertainment for the entire family then deep and cool on the Sci Fi spectrum.
Did they explain why they don't go back just a hundred years and change history?

First off, Holy [expletive] also.

How is this going to go 16 more episodes?
[SHOW]
My main complaint - the silent henchmen are starting to get on my nerves. The new guy gets nothing to do but sneer.

Poor Walter Jr. I can't stop thinking about that kid. His world's about to be shattered.

Interesting that they never actually said Ted was killed. I don't see how he can't be, but I thought it was weird that they focused on his fingers twitching, and then when Saul didn't actually say the words I wondered if that was significant.

Okay, one larger complaint - from the outset they've established how important Walt's expertise are, which I find unlikely but I can accept as the conceit of the show. But suddenly Gus is going to entrust it to Pinkman who doesn't understand the science and is only working by rote, and isn't exactly a stable person historically. What happens if theres an accident at the lab, or one of their supplies dries up and they need to redo the formula? Hard to see where that makes sense from a business standpoint.

Also, if you're Gus, why not just kill Walt and see what Jesse does? Worst case is he goes back to producing meth whatever way he did before he hired Walt.

I'm pretty sure Mike is coming back, and I don't know that he's on Gus's side. I'd say I could see him and Jesse turning on Gus and saving Walt, but now it looks like the cat has to be out of the bag to Hank and Marie. But then maybe not. Going off now to look for previews for next week.

I read Alan Sepinwall's review and he mentioned this w/r/t Beneke's death:
....because Ted Beneke died in much the same way (with a hint of Cheddar White Boy Bob in "Out of Sight" and/or any other similarly abrupt black comic klutzy death scene)
I love that movie, but I hadn't thought of that.

Also, a funny comment on that review:
At this rate, I'm convinced the season finale will actually kill some viewers at home. And the series finale will destroy Luxembourg and South Dakota.

I'm guessing he's not, and it'll come back. They never let anything go. Either that or we find out for sure that he is in the next episode.

He only needs Jesse to continue making the formula until he can find another chemist, and theoretically, he doesn't have a lot of competition right now after the blood bath in Mexico. I guess it's a little far-fetched, but can be reasonably explained away.

That's interesting. What makes you say that he's not on his side? Not doubting or anything. Mostly I'm just curious why you'd say it because it's not an impression I have.
