The Video Game Thread

[Maclowery]

Diablo 3 beta has begun - at least for employees and family members. Public should begin within a week. Hooray!

I am watching a streaming video of a guy playing as a barb. It's really, really, really fun. Just watching it. Grrggghh I likes Diablos

This should be in the WTF and the tax/financial thread

Dead Space 2 shipped more than two million copies in its first week.
It also provides tax breaks for a company whose hit video game this year was the gory Dead Space 2, which challenges players to advance through an apocalyptic battlefield by killing space zombies.

Those tax incentives — a collection of deductions, write-offs and credits mostly devised for other industries in other eras — now make video game production one of the most highly subsidized businesses in the United States, says Calvin H. Johnson, who has worked at the Treasury Department and is now a tax professor at the University of Texas at Austin

Forza 4 is almost here! We should see a demo either this week or next.

If I had more time I'd be all over GOW3. I loved GOW2 and I think a lot of my friends are getting 3 but I just don't have time for it.

Still happy with NHL10, besides roster changes, I can't think of a reason to get 12.

There's a good review here.

It's looking really good. I can't wait to try out the new hoard mode.
