Really? I'll check into it. I've heard they can take their time getting your box back. No troubles at all leading up to it and it just hit tonight when I powered it up.InvincibleCakeEater wrote:Mine went RROD 3 days ago. I think the warranty for free repair is valid for one year. If your XBox is older than that, they charge you $100 to fix it.

Mine was the exact same way. Hadn't been freezing up during games or anything. I played some COD in the afternoon and then turned it on before bed to watch a movie and got it. Mines a first gen and I voided the warranty by building a frankenbox out of two broken systems, but I'm hoping they get so many repair requests they just let it go. They pay for the shipping too, so why not try?Tambourine Man wrote:Really? I'll check into it. I've heard they can take their time getting your box back. Yeah, I'll give it a shot. I do think I'm gonna order one and try to get mine repaired. I'm hosting the Fedor/Hendo fight at the end of the month, and the girls will freak if they can't play Kinect Dance Central after the fights. If MS comes through with a repair, I'll find some charity to donate it to. Thanks for the heads up dude.InvincibleCakeEater wrote:Mine was the exact same way. I think anything with the original motherboard is free with no time limit, the 2nd gens have a 3 year, and the new motherboards are 1 year.longhornbaseball wrote:I think the warranty for free repair is valid for one year. If your XBox is older than that, they charge you $100 to fix it.

My brother just got the dreaded red ring of death. He accepted it, with mourning, as he has abused the living christ out of his original 360. That thing sounded like a damn lawn mower when we would turn it on. He's been playing more Fallout New Vegas than sleeping lately, so he's pretty bummed, as I guess it ate his character.
I have no pity, as a PC gamer. My ps3 has been going strong for years, as a nice mediabox, that I occasionally get stoned and play Pixeljunk: Monsters on.
It's lame that I'm saving money for the fall, not for a big vacation, but to instead build a top-flight new rig to run Battlefield 3 and Elder Scrolls 5. Let's gooooooo Black Friday deals. Bring it on. Screw console games, I can play my PC games on my enormous bigscreen all I want.
