Re: TV Thread - beware, [expletive] can get spoilery
Survivor has a good formula going right now: bring back a couple of previous players to bring in past fans yet keep new players both watching and applying to have a chance at the gold.
I'd love to see some older fave players of mine get a chance to play, but at the same time I get tired of them bringing back old players who get chance after chance. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but it does almost feel like they want to milk previous personalities out and give them a chance to "finally win" while it ignores new contestants.
I've applied to play the game, and I'm considering doing it again when I get out of grad school. I want to play the game, dammit. Stop bringing back people who have had multiple chances and failed.

I'm not a huge Rob fan, but this title was wrapped up for him. A smart, personable guy, who is good at puzzles, put on a tribe full of followers that will do whatever he says.Cronos69 wrote:Survivor has a good formula going right now: bring back a couple of previous players to bring in past fans yet keep new players both watching and applying to have a chance at the gold.

I like the formula of bringing back past favorites, and I like Redemption. It just didn't have too much drama this year, because you knew exactly who rob and his Cronies were voting out even before the episode began...

Just catching up with season 7 of The Office... I'm not halfway through the season yet but boy have the writers stepped it up a notch. Hilarious.

Jamie stabbing the dude in the eye was nice too. The sky walls in the dungeon cells at the Eyrie were badass.robbotis wrote:Game of Thrones this week- AWESOME!

The AV Club does two reviews, one for those who've read the books and on for those who haven't. I'm a big fan of Arya (sp?), she's pretty much the best.thrill wrote:Jamie stabbing the dude in the eye was nice too. Again, no spoilers from books for you newbies:
Pretty interesting episode. Had the most scenes not from the books yet. Mostly done pretty well, I thought. They did a good enough job of casting for the Mountain That Rides (in the books he's like 8 feet tall, his brother the Hound is like 6-6, here they're smaller, but still visibly big-ass dudes). I was hoping they'd put the horse-beheading in. Gotta know early on just how crazy Ser Gregor is, and how afraid pretty much everyone is of him.
Kinda meh on the fellatio slurping noises. Renly, in my opinion, should be a stronger character than he is. His BFF Loras says "the people love you" I suppose, but we haven't seen it on screen. He just seems rather wimpy, and more inspired than his lover than showing personal strength as he did in the novels.
Lysa (Catelyn's crazy sister with the suckling 6 year old) was suitably bonkers. I really liked how the Eyrie looked, even if it's rather different from the novels' description.
King Robert's actor continues to just own every second he's on screen. Best-acted role so far. That scene when he and Cersei are hating on eachother so subtly was perfectomundo.

I mean, right? That's twice now, and both times it pulled me out of the show. That's just an incredibly unrealistic noise.Maclowery wrote: Kinda meh on the fellatio slurping noises. Thanks for not spoiling anything as I'm new to the story and just watching the show.Maclowery wrote:Again, no spoilers from books for you newbies:

The slurping noises, gotta go. Until last night I wasn't even sure who that charcter was...
Sir Gregor, can't believe they let him get away w/ that sort of thing. His brother though seems pretty cool.
King Robert is awesome, too fat for his armor! And I agree the converstion w/ the wife was well written and provided lots of info. I'm pretty sure her father's going to come into play, but I'm still not sure how he as a ruler of a different land figures in everything.

He's a lord, not a king. Was the hand of the king to Robert's predecessor.robbotis wrote:I'm still not sure how he as a ruler of a different land figures in everything.
