Grabbed a pack of Shiner Hefeweizen and was pleasantly surprised. Pretty good, especially for a six dollar six pack.

A whole bunch of Stone Brewery products were at the store last night-two types of IPAs and some other stuff - I settled on Levitation (amber ale) because of all the whining about IPAs and also for its nifty "gold medal" winner sticker. Its good, but surprisingly not great. It rates well on ratebeer though.

What stone products should I be snagging?

Are Stone Brewery products only avaible in Wisconsin? I wouldn't mind giving that amber ale a shot. I love amber ales.

21st Amendment Monk's Blood: dark belgian, trappist style ale. Complex on the pallet with typical belgian foundation, notes of cinnamon, vanilla, and smoke.

Actually, stone IPA's are pretty good. Now us fancy beer drinkers get ragged on by other fancy beer drinkers because it's not the right kind of fancy beer!

I have liked every Stone beer I've had - IMO one of the better brewers today. Even this one - I'm a porter fan but wasn't sure about the smoked part, but really enjoyed it.

Stone Levitation Amber Ale - I drank a couple more of my 6er last night, and I am liking it even less. IMO -it tastes more wrongly hopped up than some of the IPAs people don't like. I will get a different Stone beer next time - Radbird's entire GRB reputation hangs in the balance. :)
