Most ACC schools are around Miami's caliber academically, so they aren't really at a real disadvantage.
It's obviously not exactly known on this board, or this area probably, just how good of a school Miami is academically. Florida State every year gets kids into school that can't sniff Miami, and Miami last year actually had more academic All-Americans on their football team than Duke.

There are definitely times when I wish Miami would go back to the mid-80's of Jimmy Johnson and ignore their standards to win games, but that hasn't been the case for a long time now.

.
The list I found showed 3 guys from Penn St and 2 from Academic bastion Alabama and zilch from Miami and Duke.

In your favor, Missouri St was repped.

I'm speaking over of a period of time. David Arkin is a good student and player, yes.

People on this board continue to speak against Miami based on their reputation from the 80's. It's obvious I'm not changing people's minds despite the information available to the contrary. It's as though they don't know enough to know they don't know.

This whole thing started because a guy didn't like the verifiable fact that I stated Haith is going from an academically elite, private school to a large state school.

This is sort of like shooting fish in a barrel.
Duke led all ACC schools with 13 selections, followed by Clemson with 6, Virginia Tech, 5, and Boston College, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Maryland and North Carolina with four each. Wake Forest and Miami had 3 apiece, while NC State and Virginia each had one selection.
Btw, Virginia may be the best school of the whole lot.

Phins, I respect your baseball stuff but your credibility is taking a beating here.

What list are you using? I show Miami tied in 2008,and Duke in 2009 and 2010 had more in football.

How is my credibility taking a beating? I apparently am wrong on the football Academic stuff...I thought it was for football, but apparently not. It is not debatable that Miami is a tier I school which is what I've said along. It's not debatable that Miami is a top-50 school.

Not sure how my credibility on this subject has changed at all.

Do you really think that Haith had to turn away from players because of academic standards at Miami? Especially relative to Mizzou, which is a pretty good institution in its own right(showing up in the Top 100 of your cited list)? If so, I'm really curious to see the examples. If not, then you have no point and are just arguing to evangelize Miami.

This is driving me nuts. I merely responded to a person attacking me. I said the statement Haith is moving from a small, private school that is elite academically to a large state scho and it would be different. That's it. That's all.

The big problem is we have a bunch of Mizzou alums who don't like their school not characterized as elite. I haven't slammed Mizzou academically, but it's not as good as Miami. I didn't go to Miami, so it's not as though I'm trying to insinuate I'm awesome and those who went to Mizzou aren't.

How is this somehow a problem? I stated facts, and apparently a throw away statement I made is not correct, and should have double checked that. Otherwise, I have checked my statements, and Miami is a top-50 school and Tier I.

You're the one who brought up the academic difference, I don't particularly care about whatever measure of academic prestige is being mentioned. You made the implication that Haith would potentially have an easier time recruiting because of the academic differences, so the question is an obvious one. What restrictions did Haith run into at Miami because of academics, and/or what players did he have to turn away from because of academics?
