I saw on the Miami scout site that he had 1 5 star and 2 4 star recruits coming to Miami next year, as well as a 3 star recruit.MrCrowesGarden wrote:I guess Haith was the lead recruiter who brought Daniel Gibson and LaMarcus Aldridge to Texas. That's about the only positive I can find. Completely uninspired and uninspiring pick.

Re: Mizzou 2010 Hoops
unbelievable. That's the only word I ever have to use as a mizzou basketball fan. Tyus Edney runs the length of the court, unbelievable. Quinn Snyder is running around with Linas Kleiza's girlfriend, unbelievable. Mizzou players carrying shotguns around outside a bar, unbelievable. Ricky Clemmons, unbelievable, Pink Toes, unbelievable. Crap

I don't know a lot about the guy, but I can tell you this is not accurate.Lesson wrote: I saw on the Miami scout site that he had 1 5 star and 2 4 star recruits coming to Miami next year, as well as a 3 star recruit.

I wonder who steered Alden in that direction. This reminds me of the time the hot girl turned me down when I asked her to prom. In the end, I didn't go, opting to total my friend's car instead.

I retract my earlier argument. Stealing Painter would have been better.

Re: Mizzou 2010 Hoops
This from the Miami athletic department:
Haith has two years left on his contract with Miami, worth a total of about $3 million. The school is expected to release Haith from his contract without penalty.
So, the front office appears to want him gone pretty badly to not invoke any clauses in his contract to penalize him. He was making $1.5 million here, and we wanted him gone badly, but couldn’t fire him and then pay another coach. I could make a pretty compelling argument that Miami had as much, if not more, talent than Mizzou does.
Durand Scott, the PG, was a top-50 recruit from New York.
Malcolm Grant, the SG, was a pretty big time recruit, who went to Villanova and transferred. He was a 3rd team All-ACC player.
DeQuan Jones is the highest rated recruit Haith has ever gotten. He’s an amazing athlete, who hasn’t developed a bit.
Adrian Thomas is a 6th year Senior who hit over 100 three’s.
Reggie Johnson is really good. 6-10, 300 Center with good hands and feet. Led team in free throw shooting last year as well.
Rion Brown was a top-150 recruit from last year.
Julian Gamble is a 6-9 post who was recruited by several BCS clubs.
What did Haith do with this team? He darned near finished last, won zero road games in conference, failed to develop players. He led Miami to 1 NCAA tournament, and that was with the programs best player since Rick Barry in Jack McClinton. In six years, he’s went to the tourney once.
The Miami fan base is celebrating right now…think about that. The fan base, the regime is excited by getting out of that contract, and it’s amazing that mizzou hired him. A lot of people are saying that he’ll do better with more resources, but Miami has a new arena, and finished 41st in basketball revenue this year according to Forbes. Mizzou was 37th.
The bright light for Haith is that he can recruit. He came from Texas as their lead recruiter, and got some big talent there (however, who hasn’t? They got Durant after him, and all of the team they currently have as well). Haith is coming from a small, private school that is elite academically, to a large public school without the academic requirements. Maybe that will help, maybe that will be very foreign to him and he won’t do very well.
I’d consider this a letdown personally.
