These past few days I've allowed myself to get excited, which will only make the inevitable disappointment that much worse. Man, it would be fun to be able to compete with KU every year.

Do you really think that Painter takes them to that level?

I've seen a lot of these comments the past few days. I know it's exciting for Mizzou fans to potentially get some good news, but color me unimpressed that Bernie is good at passing along rumors.

Lots of people passed along rumors; very, very few of them have been correct. Bernie's have been right every step of the way, even when everyone in the world was waving their hands at the notion of Painter coming to Mizzou and not taking it seriously at all.

He's actually gotten really good at this type of reporting. He stays even and reports both sides of things and does his best to not work it into a frenzy.

Heh... that's funny. And true. But I appreciate that. Sportswriters look like real [expletive] when they say stuff that isn't even remotely true, or rush a story that winds up false.
