He dodged a question in which a reporter from KOMU asked if he thanked the Mizzou fans.

Not really interested in listening to the whole presser. Anything worth repeating?
And to reiterate my stance on the guy, I'm glad he was here and straightened out Quin's mess but I think quite a bit less of him for how he handled this thing.

The link I posted only showed it live, doubt it will be replayed.lukethedrifter wrote:Not really interested in listening to the whole presser. Anything worth repeating?

The only thing worth mentioning that was Mizzou related was when a reporter from KOMU(news station in Columbia) asked Anderson if he had anything to say to Mizzou fans. He dodged the question at first, briefly thanked the team, fans and the athletic department. The fans in the arena booed the reporter when Anderson mentioned Columbia.
Also, he referred to a press release that didn't exist.

Did Anderson have some issues with MU? I get the impression that he wasn't too happy with his bosses or situation at MU.

I'm not sure how he should answer that question. A coach's relationship with the fans is pretty limited, in general.

Re: Mizzou 2010 Hoops
As a mizzou fan first, and arkansas fan second - it was pretty interesting to see this entire situation unfold. I live in the middle of Arkansas and don't care all that much about basketball so I only got an Arkansas feel for it.
What I saw was an Arkansas fanbase cream their pants over Mike Anderson from the word go. People have been calling for it for a couple years now and especially after Arkansas lost to Ole Miss at home a couple months ago. Jeff Long, imo, had one guy in mind and was going to do whatever it took to get him. So.... a 2.2 mil contract for 7 years which puts MA up there in the top 10 coaches (which I don't really feel he is).
I didn't see the Mizzou fanbase thoughts on how MA handled this situation. But, from what I heard was that Long got permission to speak with Anderson via phone calls at first that weren't returned and eventually from an email that wasn't bounced nor returned which constitutes consent apparently. MA had to go to a funeral and after that got the deal done pretty quickly.
As far as MA at Arkansas goes, I think people are going to be in love at first and then somewhat disappointed. And I think his career will follow the same path that Houston Nutt's did. Limited success at first which will raise expectations and then eventually people will get tired of him using other schools to negotiate a new deal and his perpetual tournament appearances but no championships.
I like Anderson. I don't blame him for leaving and I hope Mizzou can get Painter (or Pearl if that falls through dare I say) and continue to improve the program.
